I was selected to be a Director in The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals 2018 Company. "The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals is a professional experience for artists 25 and under. Over the course of a weekend, the company will engage in workshops, panel discussions, and their own production of The 24 Hour Plays in an Off-Broadway theatre." "The Making of a Creative Cafe With Emily Messana"

March 17, 2017

"Emily Messana does not see being a freshman as a limitation on her path to being a director. The New School for Drama allows their students to use a platform known as Creative Cafe to bring productions that they care about to the community. Using this program, Emily decided to take on an extremely challenging production, David Harrower’s Blackbird, in order to both expand her reach as a director and bring a story she deeply cares for to the other members of The New School."

"School For Drama Created Seven New Plays Last Week"

November 4, 2016

I directed a new play by Sophia Cohen Smith and was featured in this article! "The New Works Festival is put on once every semester by Naked Angels, the professional theater company within The New School for Drama. It is a seven day festival wherein groups of four to six students write, direct, and perform their own 10-minute play. Each semester it is assisted by teaching artists from each field (playwriting, directing, and acting). This semester the teaching staff for New Works was completely made up of The New School for Drama alumni."
